In some news that’s likely to put a smile on the face of many genre fans, Jeff Goldblum is being brought back into the ‘Jurassic’ franchise.

Goldblum famously played Ian Malcolm in 1993’s Jurassic Park and 1997’s The Lost World, and now The Hollywood Reporter has word that the fan favourite actor will be back for next year’s Jurassic World sequel. In turn, he’ll be joining a cast that currently includes Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Jones, Daniella Pineda, Rafe Spall, and Justice Smith.

No major plot details are known at this early stage where this still-to-be-titled Jurassic World sequel is concerned, although we do know that it will be the second of a new trilogy of Jurassic pictures.

With Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow tied up with a little movie called Star Wars: Episode IX, The Orphanage’s Juan Antonio Bayona is directing the sequel for a June 22nd, 2018 release.
