With Joel Kinnaman recently said to be in talks for David Ayer’s SUICIDE SQUAD, now comes word from The Wrap that Jay Hernandez has landed a mystery role in the villain-centric film. Hernandez is best known to genre fans for the likes of HOSTEL, QUARANTINE and CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL, not to mention shows like FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and GANG RELATED.

As for which role Hernandez is on board for, early speculation is that it could very well be a cellmate of The Joker’s. If that’s the case, don’t expect things to turn out well for him. Additionally, Kinnaman is still said to be the frontrunner for the Rick Flag role previously held by Tom Hardy before he departed the film.

Hernandez joins a cast that includes Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

SUICIDE SQUAD is currently set for an August 5th, 2016 release.
