Recent weeks have seen Warner Brothers in talks with Eli Roth about directing prehistoric shark adaptation MEG, but earlier this year there was talk of a Sony project known as In the Deep. Well that film is now also close to landing a director.

Deadline is reporting that House of Wax and Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra is in the frame to helm In the Deep, with a draft screenplay already in place courtesy of Tony Jaswinski. The plot centres on a woman stranded out at sea with a shark stalking the stretch of water between her and the shore. The early version of the script has already been dubbed a cross between Jaws and 127 Hours.

Much like Roth is yet to officially board MEG, Collet-Serra is yet to sign on to helm In the Deep. With that said, expect to hear more on this as and when it develops.
