Whilst his turn as The Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad may have split opinion, Jared Leto has landed himself another huge gig in the shape of Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner sequel.

Alcon Entertainment has confirmed that the Dallas Buyers Club actor is the latest name to join the sequel to Ridley Scott’s iconic 1982 picture. Leto joins a cast that includes the returning Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard and fellow newcomers Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Lennie James, and Ana de Armas.

No major details are known on the exact plot of the film just yet, only that it will be set several decades after Scott’s original movie.

At present, the Blade Runner sequel is currently set for an October 6th, 2017 release.
