Jamie Foxx is a former vampire killer turned pool cleaner in the R-rated action-horror-comedy Day Shift, for which Netflix has just released the trailer.

The feature follows a hard-working dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 8-year-old daughter, reads the premise. Unfortunately, his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job doesn’t pay like his former gig – working for ‘the Union’, slaying vampires and collecting their fangs. Now, Foxx’s Bud Jablonski has one week to come up with 10K for his kid’s braces and tuition, or else his daughter and wife will move to Florida. There’s a lot at stake, and his only hope is to get back in with his former employers.

Dave Franco and cowboyed-up Snoop Dogg also star in what looks like a riotous, action-packed vampire fest. Day Shift is directed by stunt veteran and first-time feature director J.J. Perry, who worked on the first two John Wick movies. It comes from a script by John Wick 3 and writer Shay Hatten and newcomer Tyler Tice.

This is just the latest entry in Netflix’s dogged commitment to all things vampy: recent examples include Night Teeth, First Kill, Vampires vs The Bronx, Vampires, V Wars, Van Helsing, and Immortals. Most have been so-so, but there’s reason to be cautiously optimistic about this one – see for yourself in the trailer below:

Day Shift releases August 12th on Netflix.
