With long-time partner Leigh Whannell having been tasked with reinventing The Invisible Man, it appears that James Wan is now going to get the chance to explore one of Universal’s classic monsters.

Courtesy of Variety, Wan is reportedly set to produce a new Frankenstein movie through his Atomic Monster banner. Wan, of course, is famous for helming the likes of Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring and recently did wonders with Aquaman.

The last we’d heard on Frankenstein was a couple of years ago, when No Country for Old Men’s Javier Bardem was in the frame to play Frankenstein’s monster as part of Universal’s Dark Universe realm that kicked off with The Mummy. Unfortunately for Universal, The Mummy turned out to be a dud, meaning that plans for this shared world were shelved.

At this stage, there’s no word on what to expect from this new Frankenstein, although any film that’s in the hands of James Wan is always in safe hands.

Expect more on Frankenstein as it continues to develop. In the meantime, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man is in cinemas this coming February.
