20th Century Fox’s adaptation of BOOM!’s The Empty Man has brought in James Badge Dale in a leading role.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, with the Iron Man 3, The Pacific, World War Z, 13 Hours and The Walk actor now on board for the hotly-anticipated adap. No details are known on just what role Dale has landed, but one extra bit of information that has come out is that the film is expected to start shooting in South Africa in the next couple of months.
For those not familiar with The Empty Man premise, the official synopsis reads:
It’s been one year since the first reported case of the Empty Man disease, and no drug has been able to slow its progress. The cause is unknown, and the symptoms include fits of rage, hideous hallucinations, suicidal dementia, followed by death, or a near lifeless, ‘empty’ state of catatonia. As murder cults rise nationwide, the FBI and CDC enter a joint investigation of the Empty Man, hoping to piece together clues to stop the cult and uncover a cure.
That said, THR believes that the upcoming adaptation will differ quite a bit from the original source material from Cullen Bunn and Vanesa R. Del Rey.
David Prior, best known for putting together special features and bonus content for Blu-ray/DVD releases of the likes of The Social Network and Zodiac, is directing.SHARE YOUR COMMENTS BELOW OR ON TWITTER @STARBURST_MAG
