The last week has seen some big rumours unfurl surrounding Warner Brothers’ SUICIDE SQUAD. Firstly, Jared Leto was reportedly being lined up to play the Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker, in David Ayer’s villain-centric movie. And whilst Mr J has no real ties to the Suicide Squad team in the comic books, it was said that Margot Robbie would be playing Harley Quinn in the film, giving The Joker a convenient reason to be involved in the movie. Now comes some further casting news on the villainous team-up.

Variety is reporting that A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD and TERMINATOR: GENISYS’ Jai Courtney is up for the role of Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot, in the film. One of the most deadly assassins in the DC world, Deadshot has most recently made appearances throughout the first two seasons of The CW’s ARROW and has also headed up the animated ASSAULT ON ARKHAM movie. It’s been previously reported that this cinematic Suicide Squad is to be made up of Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Blockbuster, Mindboggler, Multiplex, Jaculi, and Vixen, although rewrites are currently taking place which will seemingly see Harley Quinn and The Joker incorporated into the film. Then there’s word that Warners are reportedly in negotiations with Jesse Eisenberg for him to play Lex Luthor in the film, a role that he will be playing in the upcoming BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.

As well as Leto, Robbie and Courtney, it’s believed that Warner Brothers are also in talks with Tom Hardy and Will Smith for the film, although it appears that Ryan Gosling is no longer being touted, with him supposedly having originally been up for the Joker gig.

To be directed by END OF WATCH’s David Ayer, SUICIDE SQUAD is currently targeting an August 5th, 2016 release.
