Could Ghost Rider be set to rear his flaming head on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Stranger things have happened…

ABC and Marvel Entertainment have used some San Diego public transport to tease what lies ahead for S.H.I.E.L.D.’s fourth season, and one could certainly read into it that Ghost Rider could be making an appearance. Complete with flaming chains, the ad reads “Get fired up!”

This could very well be an indication of Ghost Rider, but the flaming chain could also be a reference to J.T. James, aka Hellfire, a character who debuted last year and one who often uses a Hellfire chain as his weapon of preference.

Here’s the image itself, so you can make your own mind up:

Following the Nicolas Cage-starring Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, the rights for Ghost Rider have reverted back to Marvel, meaning that it would be possible for the character to appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. should they wish to go that route. Whether that happens, though, is another story.

As ever, expect more on this if and when it develops.
