Leigh Whannell is a huge favourite of us here at Moonbase Alpha, with us having had the pleasure of interviewing him several times over the last few years, and there’s now word that the talented Australian is returning to pen a new Insidious movie.

Blumhouse has announced that Insidious: Chapter 4 is now going into development, with franchise favourite Lin Shaye returning to battles demons as parapsychologist Elisa Rainer.

As well as series co-creator Whannell penning this next chapter, Jason Blum, Oren Peli and James Wan will be serving as producers. It was Whannell and Wan who launched the franchise in 2010, and the last entry in the series saw Whannell pop his directorial cherry. For this fourth Insidious movie, Whannell will stick to writing duties (and hopefully an on-screen return as Specs) with The Taking of Deborah Logan’s Adam Robitel to helm the film.

The current plan is for Insidious: Chapter 4 to hit screens on October 20th, 2017.
