“God saved me for a reason, but I’m still searching for what that reason is,” says Sydney Sweeney’s character in the first trailer for the upcoming psychological horror film, Immaculate.
Directed by Michael Mohan, the Neon film is due to release in cinemas March 22nd and follows a deeply religious young woman named Cecilia. As she’s warmly welcomed to the picture-perfect Italian countryside and is offered a new role at an illustrious convent, it soon becomes clear to Cecilia that her new home harbours dark and horrifying secrets. Add to that a miraculous pregnancy, and her life is taking a sharp turn down a terrible road full of demonic voices, murderous nuns, and supernatural forces. It goes without saying that we’re very excited for this one.
Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli and Simona Tabasco also star. Andrew Lobel pens the screenplay. This is a reunion for Mohan and Sweeney, who previously worked together on the 2021 Amazon Studios thriller The Voyeurs.
Sweeney recently starred opposite Glen Powell in Sony’s romantic comedy Anyone But You, which released last month. She will also appears alongside Dakota Johnson in Madame Web, with the latest feature from Sony’s Spider-Man universe launching on Valentine’s Day.
