Psychological horror and thriller Hypnotic has just revealed its first trailer, ahead of its Halloween-time Netflix release on October 27th. The film stars horror favourite Kate Siegel (Midnight Mass, The Haunting franchise, Hush) as Jenn, a young woman who finds herself turning to alternative forms of wellness treatments as a means of self-improvement. After hearing about a renowned hypnotherapist, Dr. Collin Meade (Jason O'Mara, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Man in the High Castle), she seeks him out in the hope he can help her move past her trauma – only to discover that his sessions prompt some very dangerous, terrifying, and wholly unexpected side effects.
Dulé Hill and Lucie Guest also star alongside Siegel and O'Mara in the upcoming Netflix thriller written by Richard D’Ovidio, with Michael J. Luisi serving as producer.
In an interview with Collider, Hypnotic directors Suzanne Coote and Matt Angel (who previously co-directed The Open House, starring Dylan Minnette) cite inspiration from such films as Vertigo, Silence of the Lambs, Ex Machina, and Fatal Attraction, and share that "our goal with a film like this is for the audience to have fun. Hypnotic is non stop. There are a lot of great psychological elements and big twists and turns. We love films like this, and at the end of the day, we hope the audience walks away having enjoyed the ride."
Hypnotic will stream on Netflix globally from October 27th. Watch the official trailer below:
