Casting announcements for Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes continue to roll in, with the latest addition being Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer. In what is set to be her first feature role, Schafer will play Tigris Snow, Coriolanus Snow’s cousin and confidante who advises him on all things.

Hunter Schafer joins Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler in the prequel film, which is directed by franchise veteran Francis Lawrence. West Side Story actor Josh Andrés Rivera is also on board as Sejanus Plinth, the mentor to a District 2 tribute and close friend to Coriolanus.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set years before Snow (Blyth) become the ruthless President of Panem we know from The Hunger Games trilogy. In this prequel, the 18-year-old is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-prominent family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), a seemingly lacklustre tribute from Panem’s poorest District.

When Lucy Gray commands Panem’s attention by singing during the reaping ceremony, however, Snow sees an opportunity to turn the odds in their favour. So begins their fight for survival.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes debuts in cinemas on November 17th, 2023.
