With a Trainspotting sequel currently shooting, another drug-fueled favourite of yesteryear is also getting a follow-up. As the title suggests, that favourite is indeed Human Traffic.

Justin Kerrigan’s Human Traffic was released back in 1999 and in the aftermath of the buzz surrounding Trainspotting. But where other imitators failed, Human Traffic managed to capture a bit of the spirit of Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting whilst also being a brilliant movie all of its own as it relived the ecstasy-driven days of the ‘90s club scene and left behind the darker elements of Boyle’s film. Set in Cardiff over the course of a weekend, the film starred John Simm, Lorraine Pilkington, Shaun Parks, Nicola Reynolds and saw the big screen debut of Danny Dyer.

To be titled Human Traffic: The Revolution, the sequel will see Kerrigan returning to write and direct an Ibiza-set reuniting of the original movie’s key players. Other than that, the only additional information known at this stage is that Parallax East are backing the film and that Sally Hibbin will be producing.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops. Nice one, bruva…
