Nominations are now open for the Hugo Awards and the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. The prestigious awards will be presented at Sasquan, the 73rd Worldcon, August 19-23, 2015 in Spokane, USA. Eligible persons can submit their vote online on the official Sasquan website, here.
To qualify to vote, you need to be a member (or supporting member) of the Loncon 3, 2015’s Sasquan, or 2016’s MidAmeriConII by the end of the day (Pacific Time) on January 31, 2015. You only need to be a member of one of the three to be eligible. Full members are able to attend the relevant Worldcon event. The nomination period closes March 10, 2015 at 11:59pm Pacific Daylight Time.
Those with full or supporting membership of the 2015 Worldcon, called Sasquan, are also able to contribute to the selection of the 2017 Worldcon. European convention goers may be interested to learn that Helsinki are bidding for that honour, and more details can be found on their site, Helsinki in 2017.
The organisers of Sasquan are also running a competition to design the base for the iconic rocket ship shaped Hugo trophy. Further details can be found on Sasquan.org website.
If you’re lucky enough to have a vote in the Hugo Awards, you may be intrigued to learn that Starburst’s own BookWorm Podcast is actively campaigning for your nomination as Best Fancast. You can listen to the show here.
