Many comic fans have claimed that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye has been given a raw deal so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The slightest of slight appearances in THOR was followed by the character being brainwashed for the majority of AVENGERS ASSEMBLE. Whilst speculation still rages that he may be killed off in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, now comes word that the character could very well be being lined up to have a significant part to play in CAPTAIN AMERICA 3.

Speaking to Collider about his upcoming schedule, Renner himself teased, “There are rumblings of CAPTAIN AMERICA 3. I don’t know what’s going to happen there. I’ve got to find the time, man . I’m trying to stay home and I can’t.”

CAP 3 will be directed by the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, who also helmed the brilliant CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. When asked if the possibility of a Hawkeye appearance in their next Captain America effort was something they could talk about, Anthony Russo told SuperheroHype, “Unfortunately we can’t comment. It’s too specific to what the movie may be.” Brother Joe added, “There are certainly characters that Cap is close to or has a strong relationship with that would make sense appearing in his films. I think that’s all we can say about it.”

At present, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who penned THE WINTER SOLDIER, are currently working on the script for CAPTAIN AMERICA 3, which is scheduled for a May 6th, 2016 release.
