It would appear that Independence Day 2 now has a full title, with Roland Emmerich’s sequel apparently due to go under the moniker Independence Day: Resurgence.
A web domain has already been set up under the title by Fox and with the $200m production beginning at the end of May, it should only be a matter of time until this is confirmed; unless, of course, it’s a red herring or Fox changes their minds.
The sequel stars Jeff Goldbum, Maika Monroe, Liam Hemsworth, Joey King, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner, and Charlotte Gainsbourg and involves the nations joining using recovered alien tech to protect against further incursions. We can only imagine the extraterrestrials have updated their anti-virus software since their last visit.
Whatever the final title, Independence Day 2 is scheduled to hit screens on June 24th, 2016.
