Remember those rumours of a new Indiana Jones movie on the way? You know, a rebooted franchise with Chris Pratt donning the iconic fedora? Well it looks as if there won’t be a new Indy any time soon.

As reported by Den of Geek, producer Frank Marshall was recently asked about the notion of recasting Dr. Henry Walton Indiana Jones, Jr. He responded with, “There are a lot of rumours. We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet. At some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton. We’re not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones. We have to figure this out.”

With Steven Spielberg recently revealing that he’ll “probably” do a fifth Indiana Jones, it looks as if we’ll still be seeing Harrison Ford as Indy for a little while longer. Considering that the plan with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was to essentially pass the bullwhip and fedora to Shia LaBeouf, it remains to be seen how things will play out moving forward. As reports earlier this year noted, it seems that LaBeouf won’t be returning to the franchise in any fashion. Given that Ford is now 73 years of age, maybe this new film could serve as a second chance to pass the torch to a younger character, such as the regularly rumoured Pratt or Bradley Cooper.

Whilst there’s nothing concrete on Indy 5 just yet, it certainly seems that it could be on the way over the next few years. As ever, expect more on this as and when it develops.
