In the ever-increasing landscape of comic book adaptations, it’s now being reported that Dark Horse’s Hard Boiled is heading to the big screen.

Deadline has word that the three-part 1993 miniseries is being adapted by Warner Bros., with Ben Wheatley to direct and Tom Hiddleston to star. The pair of Wheatley and Hiddleston have previously teamed up for High Rise, and now they’ll be working together on the adap of Frank Miller and Geoff Darrow’s Hard Boiled.

The official synopsis on the miniseries itself reads:

Carl Steltz is a suburban insurance investigator, a loving husband, and devoted father. Nixon is a berserk, homicidal tax collector racking up mind-boggling body counts in a diseased urban slaughterhouse. Unit Four is the ultimate robot killing machine – and the last hope of the future’s enslaved mechanical servants. And they’re all the same psychotic entity.

As ever, expect more on Hard Boiled as and when it develops. Up next for Wheatley is Free Fire next March, whilst Hiddleston will be seen next year in Kong: Skull Island and then a return as Loki in Thor: Ragnarok.
