With Rogue One now in cinemas – and seemingly splitting opinion (you can find our review here) – it’s been confirmed that the next “Star Wars Story” movie will start shooting in February.

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy was the one to confirm the news, revealing that the still-untitled Han Solo-centric movie will start shooting within a mere two months’ time. That film, of course, has Alden Ehrenreich on board as the younger version of one of cinema’s most iconic characters. He’ll be joined by Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca will be present, and Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke is also signed up in an unknown role.

The script for the Solo movie has been penned by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan, and the film will see how Han became the scruffy-looking nerf herder that we were all introduced to in Mos Eisley back in 1977. The LEGO Movie’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing, with a May 25th, 2018 release date in place.

Following Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, this Han Solo effort will be the second standalone Star Wars effort, with a third confirmed to arrive after Star Wars: Episode VIII. The subject of that third movie, though, has yet to be revealed, although speculation ranges from it being a Boba Fett tale, an Obi-Wan Kenobi adventure, a Yoda-based story or focussed on A.N. Other.
