Yesterday brought word that the next Halloween movie is to be called Halloween Returns, but now there’s some information on where the film will pick things up from.

The vague plot details that came out yesterday said that the story would involve an 18-year-old son of a cop who had previously come up against Michael Myers. Well ShockTillYouDrop is now reporting that the son in question will be the offspring of Halloween II’s Deputy Gary Hunt.

Whilst Deputy Hunt is merely a minor character in Rick Rosenthal’s 1981 Halloween II, pretty much just used to accompany Dr. Loomis in a hunt for Michael Myers at one stage, what’s most interesting about this news is that it confirms that Halloween Returns will follow the original movie series rather than Rob Zombie’s reworked Halloween movies. At one point it was believed that this next Halloween would follow on from Zombie’s 2009 Halloween II.

Halloween Returns is set to start production next month.
