Remember the latest redo of The Blob that’s spinning away in development hell? Remember, the one with Samuel L. Jackson supposedly attached to it? Well, now comes some news on another potential cast member for this remake.

As picked up by Bloody Disgusting, it’s being reported that Halle Berry could well be signed up for this new take on The Blob.

The last we’d heard on the project was earlier this year when Jackson updated us all to say that the film is still happening, and that he should be getting to work on the movie over the next few months. Now, though, BD has picked up on some new information over at Swengroup – the guys behind the likes of In Fear, Demonic and Maggie – that claims Berry is indeed on board to star, and that Simon West is still attached to direct. Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’s West was previously set to direct the remake but it seemed as if he’d left the project. If this latest report is indeed true, it looks as if West is still in the frame, although this same report doesn’t make mention of Samuel L. Jackson now being involved with the film.

What we know for definite at this stage is that this redo will be a new telling of the 1958 movie that saw Steve McQueen battling the titular beast. That original was followed up in 1972 with Beware! The Blob before Kevin Dillon starred in a 1988 remake of the first film.
