Variety is reporting that Guillermo del Toro is the latest addition to lend his voice to Raul Garcia’s EXTRAORDINARY TALES, an animated movie based upon the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

The film will adapt five of Poe’s tales using different styles of animation for each story. Del Toro will be voicing THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM, which will be in the style of mid-19th century photography.  Also lending the film his distinctive vocals is Christopher Lee, as well as Julian Sands and cult director Roger Corman, who himself made several luridly fun Poe adaptations in the early ‘60s.

TALES has been described as a movie that is accessible to all ages as it is not a horror feature.

Produced by Stephan Roelants (SONG OF THE SEA, ERNEST, CELESTINE), EXTRAORDINARY TALES has taken eight years to complete and has been Roelants’ labour of love.
