For years, many have been excited about the prospect of Guillermo del Toro helming a Justice League Dark movie. Granted, the chances of that film ever happening seems to have been dwindling by the day, and now it looks like del Toro is off the project.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that del Toro is now no longer attached to Justice League Dark, which is a project he’s been involved with for years now. Seemingly the director’s involvement in the film is now over. Whether Justice League Dark ever even happens at this point, that’s up in the air. At the last count, though, the movie was to feature the likes of John Constantine, Deadman, Swamp Thing and Zatanna fighting against some dark, creepy supernatural forces.

At present, del Toro is working on Crimson Peak with a sequel to Pacific Rim reportedly up next for him. The guy is one of the busiest men in Hollywood, so maybe Justice League Dark just became something he couldn’t give any of this time to now, especially considering how the film has been stuck in development hell for an age now.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
