Following on from news earlier in the week that The CW has renewed its four DC-based shows – Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and iZombie – for new seasons, now comes confirmation that FOX is renewing Gotham for a third year.

FOX’s David Madden revealed the news, saying, “It takes a very special team to tell the tales of Gotham. For the past two seasons, Bruno have masterfully honoured the mythology of Gotham and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama. This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn’t be more proud of this show.”

Gotham is currently airing its second season, with BD Wong’s Hugo Strange about to become quite the menace to GCPD. In the US, the show is averaging 9 million viewers per episode, which is quite the impressive number and obviously a major part in the show getting renewed for a Season 3.
