We’d already heard rumblings that Mr. Freeze was on his way to Gotham, and now Deadline is reporting that Nathan Darrow has been cast as the show’s Victor Fries.

Darrow is likely best known for his work in House of Cards, and his Fries will appear as one of Gotham’s leading cryogenics engineers. In traditional Fries fashion, his wife will fall ill and we’ll see him become obsessed with freezing her and attempting to find a cure as he runs rampage over Gotham City. Here’s hoping this version of Mr. Freeze will pull more on the character’s stunning depiction in Batman: The Animated Series rather than Das Arnold’s turn in the puntastically awful Batman & Robin.

Season 2 of Gotham is already underway in the US, with the show’s UK return expected early next year.
