The latest attempt to adapt the classic Dungeons & Dragons property has landed a director, according to The Tracking Board. The outlet has word that Rob Letterman will be helming the big screen feature.

Letterman is likely best known for this year’s Goosebumps, and his previous credits also include Gulliver’s Travels, Monsters vs. Aliens and Shark Tale. This latest telling of Dungeons & Dragons already has a script in place by Wrath of the Titans’ David Leslie Johnson. No cast members have been announced at this stage, although the producers are supposedly looking for a “Vin Diesel-type” to lead the film… whilst Diesel himself is a confirmed huge fan of D&D.

Dungeons & Dragons began life back in 1974 as a fantasy table-top RPG. Over the decades, there’s been several new incarnations and adaptations of the game, including the awesomely-fun 1983 cartoon series and a poorly-received 2000 live-action movie.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
