Not only have Warner Brothers and Legendary announced that production has now officially begun on Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but they’ve moved to confirm the appearance of certain fan favourite beasties in this upcoming sequel.

As has been long rumoured, there’s now confirmation that King of the Monsters will feature Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah, with the early synopsis for the sequel reading as below:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

While that’s the monster quota for the picture, the human side of things will see Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Charles Dance, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Aisha Hinds, Zhang Ziyi, and the returning Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins all along for the ride.

To be directed by Trick ‘r Treat’s Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set for a March 2019 release. Following that, Big G will find himself a part of the huge Godzilla vs. Kong crossover picture that’s currently set for May 2020.
