In some truly saddening news, it’s been revealed that Gene Wilder has passed away at the age of 83.

Wilder is fondly remembered by many a genre fan for his iconic performances in the likes of The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Haunted Honeymoon, Blazing Saddles, Stir Crazy, See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and, of course, for playing Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The news of Wilder’s passing has come as a shock to most, with the actor, whose real name was Jerome Silberman, having kept a battle with Alzheimer’s disease private over the past few years.

The thoughts and prayers of all here at STARBURST go out to the family, friends and fans of the truly legendary Gene Wilder. Rest in peace, sir.
