As the cast starts to come together for FOX’s upcoming Exorcist show, it’s being reported that Geena Davis has joined the cast of the drama inspired by William Blatty’s iconic 1971 book.

Deadline broke the news, with the 60-year-old Beetlejuice actress to play Angela Rance, a character described as “naturally beautiful, regal and proud but weighed down by stress, Angela does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is currently struggling. She can’t help but think, however, if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what’s wrong.”

The Exorcist will focus on two very different clergymen, Alfonso Herrera’s Father Thomas Ortega and Ben Daniels’ Father Marcus Lang, as they come to the aide of a family tormented by demonic possession.

The Lazarus Effect’s Jeremy Slater has penned the pilot of the show, and he’ll also executive produce alongside James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall for 20th Century Fox TV and Morgan Creek Productions.
