Supporters of the successful Kickstarter to Fallout’s spiritual predecessor will be happy to know Christmas is coming early for them. Released over Twitter, Brian Fargo, the founder of Interplay and designer behind The Bard’s Tale series announced that the Kickstarter title’s Beta would likely be ready sometime next month. In his post on his account, he stated that he was feeling “Very confident that Wasteland 2 beta will be ready within 2.5 weeks” and also that they were “knocking down the list of annoying things very fast.”

Little beyond this has been revealed, though developer inXile Entertainment has released a number of demos over the past several months. These have ranged from a basic tech demo to short examinations of the game’s inventory screen, with the latest being a playable level from the game.

Following the extremely successful backing on the crowd funding website, earning over three times its intended goal, the project ended up with over 60,000 backers. This additional funding resulted in inXile opting to push back the game’s release date from October 2013 to a later time in order to make use of their additional finances. With luck, backers with access to the beta should be seeing just what their cash has earned them and the expansions the developers made to their original vision.

Those who missed the Kickstarter will be able to purchase editions from the Late Backer Store on inXile’s Wasteland website. Products ranging from digital downloads, to autographed copies and Beta Access Add-Ons.
