There’s gonna be a zombie-fest so aim for the head, keep out of sight and whatever you do, don’t get yourself bit...

Capcom and Valve have announced a crossover project between their Resident Evil 6 and Left for Dead 2 properties on the PC, which will see characters and enemies from both series cross into the others universe. Best of all, it’s totally free.

Resident Evil 6 owners will get a PC exclusive mode “The Mercenaries No Mercy” where they can select one of the four survivors from Left For Dead 2 (Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle) and will have to face the Valve franchise’s Special Infected zombies Witch and Mini-Tank.

Resident Evil 6 Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi had this to say “The Resident Evil 6 team really enjoyed working on this crossover, and we’re confident that our fans will have a great time with it too! We hope you enjoy this unique content.

Those playing Left 4 Dead 2 will be up against some of RE6‘s most fearsome foes in Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman, and according to Valve’s Chet Faliszek the decision was a no-brainer “We’re huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it “.

The new content will be available for Resident Evil 6 on the PC from April 5th (automatic download). Left 4 Dead 2 content will be available in spring 2013.
