The next HD release of a SquareEnix property has been announced and as expected it’s a Kingdom Hearts title. Unveiled at D23 Expo Japan, the release will be a collection of various titles from the series consisting of the following: Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded with remastered HD cinematics. The collection is set to be launched exclusively on Playstation 3 next year.

Little information beyond which games are included under the title have yet been revealed, but fans are expecting a similar treatment and quality to the previous Kingdom Hearts 1.5 which collected together earlier games.

It has been thought that a major reason for these collections is to help permit some players to follow the full storyline. Despite the main series having been continually released on the Playstation, many other titles appeared on separate gaming platforms from handhelds to mobile phones. A major release which has yet to be ported over to the Playstation via one of these collections is Dream Drop Distance, which remains exclusive to the Nintendo DS for the time being.
