For many gamers technology is never enough, at least not until virtual reality catches up with MATRIX and TRON inspired fantasies. Last year YEI Technology tried and failed to get funding (via Kickstarter) for its PrioVR motion gaming suit. Having re-launched the campaign, they have surpassed their $75,000 goal, to a whopping $146,000 and with 40 days remaining, we’re going to go out on a limb and say it’ll do just fine.

The suit is available in three options: Lite, Core and Pro. The technology relies on sensors in order to mimic the player’s movements on-screen and in real time. As showcased in the accompanying Kickstarter video, the suit is compatible with the Oculus Rift as well as conventional TV monitors. The Pro option is also able to function as a motion capture device.

YEI Technology is hoping, rather ambitiously, to unite backers with their suits by June. The cheapest variant is the Lite option, which is available via an alluring early bird offer for $250/£150. Understandably only a few of the cheaper models remain.

While optimistically offering a lag free service, this is no doubt a huge step forward for the gaming industry. The keen backers (this time around) show there is interest out there, even if that is just a desire to make-believe you’re ROBOCOP.
