Well. That was fast.

The last few days have not been good for Call of Duty: Ghosts, especially in terms of illegal access to its files. It was reported only a few days ago that the game had already been pirated with files available on torrent, far ahead of what would have been expected for such a release. Now, several days prior to being released in full to the public, there are already reports of hackers within the game.

The news has come from those who had access the latest Call of Duty title early on PS3 with proof emerging in the form of screenshots on twitter. As reported on by gearnuke.com the screenshots show accounts with a few of the issues reported, such as gaining level 60 within hours of beginning and max prestige. This is in addition to one account shown to be using a total of thirty-five perks simultaneously. Said offending player exploiting the game seemed to be openly advertising its weak security as he was using the tag “ghosts is fucked”.

As this has primarily taken place on the Playstation 3, some have cited the hacks as being potentially hardware based. Other responses from players have cited potentially different failings, with a few blaming the re-use of the game engine from previous titles. This is also not the first time that hackers have broken a game in the series, with Black Ops having been similarly hacked days prior to release.  In that case however, it was allegedly permitted during the beta in order to see where the title was exploited. It remains to be seen if this is a repeat of that tactic.
