Hot on the heels of a rather excellent ’80s pastiche of the original Borderlands (‘The Border Lands’) 2K Games and Gearbox Software are at it again with online blast-a-thon MOUNT JACKMORE. Even better there’s a boat load of prizes including ‘Limited Edition Loot Lockers’ up for grabs…

Centred around the big bad from Borderlands 2 “Handsome Jack” and the fact that he has, to quote “kicked his arrogance and douchebaggery up a notch by carving his face into Pandora’s rocky landscape” your job is to chisel away at this facade with bullets. Lots and lots and lots of bullets…

Played in real time, prizes (see above) are given out for destroying pieces of the rock. The catch is everyone is playing at the same time and you have to hit the right spot at the right time. You can get additional ammo by inviting friends to play via email or facebook (it is a marketing excercise after all).

Details from the Press Release:

Mount Jackmore’ can be accessed via www.wubwub.eu and will consist of four separate rounds, each round lasting for a week, with the first round starting today. It is open to residents aged 18 and older in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Denmark, Russia and Australia. The contest rules, along with full terms and conditions, can be viewed online at the following link: wubwub.eu/jackmoreterms/gb.php

For those of you who have been under a rock for the last 6 months here’s a video featuring the delightfully monikered “Sir Hammerlock” to explain the ins and outs of Pandora, second time around…

further details from the Press Release:

Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed four-player cooperative shooter-looter that combined intense first-person mayhem with role-playing gameplay. Borderlands 2 features all-new characters; skills; imaginative, diverse new environments with unique missions and enemies; and more exciting and fun weapons, equipment and loot than ever before. All of these features come together in a story that takes players to the world of Pandora to take down the notorious Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation as a solo campaign or with up to four cooperative players.

Borderlands 2 hits stores on 21st September 2012.
It can be pre-ordered from www.borderlands2.com/preorder. (Please note Gamers who pre-order Borderlands 2 from participating retailers will gain access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, allowing them to download the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key and the Vault Hunter’s Relic.)
