Warner Bros. Interactive has unveiled a secret weapon in its upcoming BATMAN ARKHAM ORIGINS title, a 2 vs. 3 vs. 3 online multiplayer mode that allows you to control Batman, Robin, the Joker and Bane in a competitive fight to the death.

As you may have guessed, the two person team controls Batman & Robin. Whilst the other two teams comprise of the Joker with two elite henchmen and Bane with two gang mercenaries. The former has to rely on stealth tactics to tackle the henchmen in the same vein as the past Arkham games, planting traps and creeping up on victims without being seen. The other two teams instead have to rely on more conventional weaponry and other special abilities such as enhanced vision to spot the troublesome twosome and put an end to their sneaky ways.

As the fight progresses, the ability to utilise the Joker and Bane becomes available to the henchmen teams. The Joker is a devil from a distance with two handguns and a hand-cannon in his arsenal, whilst Bane (as expected) dishes the damage in close-range melee confrontations.

Many gamers lose sleep over the addition of multiplayer modes in primarily single-player adventures, but this certainly looks interesting. If anything the ability to tear up the place as Bane should be worth the addition alone. Let’s just hope they can balance the teams fairly by the time the game releases in late October.
