A recent discovery by a Neogaf poster reveals the Xbox One version of movie tie-in game The Amazing Spiderman 2 will not in fact be featuring on Microsoft’s next gen console.

The surprise move comes without any formal announcement or statement, with the only news concerning the matter from Activision being a brief comment to MVG stating ‘We want to inform you that we are revising our release plans for ASM2 on Xbox One. When and whether ASM2 is released on Xbox One is TBD.’ Indeed, a recently released image from the studio exhibits the box art for just about every console this side of the universe except for the Xbox One.

The internet being what it is, there is rife speculation varying from Sony sabotaging the release due to their ownership of the Spiderman licence, Activision facing difficulties in bringing the Xbox One version up to scratch and even one rumour speculating Activision simply sat on the Xbox One master disc and broke it (which may or may not be this writers personal opinion.)

Given the turbulent nature of the quick cash cows that are movie tie-in games, it might be the case the game is facing a staggered release across some platforms similar to the last installment of the franchise, which saw the Wii U version release a full 9 months after other copies hit the shelves.
