HBO has taken a giant step forward with their Game of Thrones prequel series, with said show having announced a whole slew of new additions.

Courtesy of The Wrap, the to-be-titled prequel effort from Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin will see the previously announced Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse joined by Guerrilla’s Denise Gough, Star Wars: Episode IX’s Naomi Ackie, Sweeny Todd’s Jamie Campbell Bower, Back Mirror’s Ivanno Jeremiah, Harlots’ Sheila Atim, The Chronicles of Narnia’s Georgie Henley, To be Bone’s Alex Sharp, and The Crimes of Grindelwald’s Toby Regbo. Jessica Jones and The Defenders’ S.J. Clarkson is confirmed to be directing the show’s pilot episode.

As mentioned, Jane Goldman and the iconic George R.R. Martin have created the series, with Goldman penning a tale based on a story idea that the two have put together. Goldman will also serve as showrunner on the series.

In terms of other details, all that we know is that the show will take place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, with the overarching narrative to see the world’s fall from the Golden Age of Heroes to its darkest of days.

Previously, Martin has said that a further three more GoT prequels series are in various stages of development, with each one to be set in a different time period and to feature different characters.

Expect more on all of these shows as they continue to develop.
