After suffering its fair share of problems last year, it’s now being reported that there are some further issues for 20th Century Fox’s Gambit.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that re-writes on the movie have caused its start date to get pushed back. The last we’d heard what that the film would head into production this month, but this latest report claims that Gambit may not get started until the end of the year.

In terms of its previous issues, at one point last year it was up in the air whether star and producer Channing Tatum was actually going to officially sign on for the picture, although the Magic Mike actor eventually did pen a deal with Fox. The other big problem was that director Rupert Wyatt, best known for helming Rise of the Planet of the Apes, was on board for a fair amount of time before departing Gambit in the second half of 2015. After the project was left without a director for several months, Liman was finally brought into the fold.

This latest re-write of Gambit is being penned by Magic Mike’s Reid Carolin. Interestingly, as a result of this latest delay, Doug Liman is supposedly in talks with Amazon Studios to direct psychological thriller The Wall later this year before getting started on the Tatum-starrer.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
