Remember that talk of a Galaxy Quest TV show being in development? Of course you do. Well it’s now found itself a home.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Paramount Television is teaming up with Amazon Studios and their streaming service to develop the series. Robert Gordon, one of the writers of the original Galaxy Quest movie, is on board to write the pilot. Gordon will also executive produce the series with Mark Johnson and director of the 1999 film, Dean Parisot.

Initially believed to be a reboot of sorts of the Galaxy Quest movie, there’s actually some talk that this new series may even serve as a form of sequel to the film. The idea of some sort of sequel has been mooted for a while now, and there have even been comic book outings that served as a follow-up to the Dean Parisot’s film.

As for the movie itself, if you’re not familiar with it then the premise saw the cast of a classic sci-fi TV show sought by a race of aliens who were under the impression that the cast were actually the characters that they played in the series. That film, which has a cult following in certain quarters, starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Tony Shalhoub, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell and Daryl Mitchell.

Expect more on this Galaxy Quest show as it develops.
