It terms of unwanted sequels, Annabelle 2 is one that many horror hounds are scratching their head over. Either way, the film has now started principal photography.

The full cast has also been revealed for the follow-up, with The Lord of the Rings’ Miranda Otto, SPECTRE’s Stephanie Sigman, The 5th Wave’s Talitha Bateman, Deliver Us From Evil’s Lulu Wilson, After the Dark’s Philippa Anne Coulthard, Badland’s Grace Fulton, The Choice’s Lou Lou Safran, The Last Witch Hunter’s Samara Lee, Without a Trace’s Anthony LaPaglia and the debuting Tayler Buck all involved.

The official word on Annabelle 2 reads:

Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.

Whilst many saw 2014’s Annabelle as so-so at best, the spin-off to James Wan’s fantastic The Conjuring did take home an impressive $257 million from a budget of just $6.5 million, meaning a sequel was likely always on the cards.

Wan will be acting as producer on the film alongside Peter Safran, with Lights Out’s David F. Sandberg to direct.

Annabelle 2 will shoot in Los Angeles ahead of a release on May 19th, 2017.
