With things now coming together for CBS’ upcoming SUPERGIRL show, The Wrap is reporting that Claire Holt is the current frontrunner to play the titular role in the series. Holt is best known for playing Rebekah in THE VAMPIRE DIARES and THE ORIGINALS.

In the show, the action will centre on Kara Zor-El, known as Kara Danvers, as she begins to use her superpowers on earth. Other characters confirmed to appear are foster sister Alexandra Danvers, and other familiar DC names such as Cat Grant, James Olsen, Hank Henshaw and Winslow Schott.

A full season of SUPERGIRL has been ordered by CBS, and ARROW and THE FLASH’s Greg Berlanti is developing the show with CHUCK’s Ali Adler.

Expect to hear more on this as it becomes available.
