Following the successful book last year focusing on exploitation cinema, FrightFest and Fab Press have joined forces once more to launch The FrightFest Guide to Monster Movies at this year’s event.

The book, written by Michael Gingold (celebrated writer and the former editor-in-chief of Fangoria magazine), will cover over 200 classic creature features and trace the history of the monster genre from the silent era through the Universal Monsters to the likes of Godzilla and today’s CGI creations.

As well as a foreword by cult director Frank Henenlotter (Basket Case, Frankenhooker), the book will be lavishly illustrated and packed with insight and facts about everyone’s favourite (and perhaps some you haven’t yet discovered) monsters from the silver screen.

The book – the second of The Dark Heart of Cinema series – will launch at this year’s Horror Channel FrightFest, which takes place at Cineworld, Leicester Square between August 24th and 28th. They’ll be an exclusive hardcover version available at the event for only £20, while the regular version will be on sale September 18th from all the usual outlets for £16.99.
