In some interesting news, Frank Miller is to start work on another DARK KNIGHT book, following on the story from THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN.

Titled THE DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE, the book will see Miller joined by Brian Azzarello for an eight-issue run that will be published twice a month for DC Comics. As it happens, 2016 is also the 30th anniversary of THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, the book often heralded by many as the greatest of all time.

To mark this news, the below teaser image has been released:

On the news, Frank Miller said, “Batman remains my favourite comic book hero and a sequel to DARK KNIGHT is going to be daunting but we’ll do our best.” Brian Azzarello added, “It’s been an amazing experience collaborating with Frank these past six months. I think we have an epic story that these characters truly deserve.”

A statement from DC Entertainment’s Dan DiDio and Jim Lee read, “We are thrilled to have Frank back home at DC writing Batman. The story he and Brian have crafted is an astounding and triumphant conclusion to this seminal body of work which influenced and shaped generations of readers and creators alike.”

Miller and Azzarello have penned the tale together, although no artists have been announced at this stage. THE DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE is set to debut later this year, concluding in 2016.
