Ever since Frank Grillo’s Brock Rumlow managed to survive (if not left in a bad shape) the events of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, there has been regular chatter on whether Rumlow would return in a future MCU movie in his Crossbones guise. Grillo himself has talked up the chances for a while now, and he’s recently given what seems to be the most definitive answer yet as the actor has apparently already been asked to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking to EW about an appearance for Crossbones in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, Grillo said, “WINTER SOLDIER was only a taste of what’s to come with the next film, and I couldn’t be more humbled and excited. They just kind of called and said, ‘What kind of shape are you in? We’re going to need a body scan.’ They scan your body so that whatever you wear fits you like a glove. We all know what Crossbones represents in his world, so when they called me and said we gotta do the body scan, I was like ‘Okay!’”

Whilst this can’t be classed as official until Marvel Studios and Disney announce Grillo’s involvement, if the actor has already been asked for a body scan then that means another appearance is seemingly a shoe-in.

If Grillo’s Rumlow does appear in CIVIL WAR, he’ll join a cast that includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and a mystery villain role for Daniel Bruhl.

To be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is currently set for a May 6th, 2016 release.
