Having made waves in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it’s now been confirmed that Saw Gerrera will be appearing in Star Wars Rebels. Not only that, but actor Forest Whitaker, who plays the character in Rogue One, will be providing the vocals for Gerrera.

The Rebel freedom fighter will debut in Ghosts of Geonosis, Parts One and Two, which airs on Disney XD on January 7th. Star Wars Rebels, of course, takes place in the time period just before the events of Rogue One.

On this news, executive producer Dave Filoni said, “It’s an incredible honour to have Forest Whitaker play Saw in Rebels. Forest did a great job at capturing Saw in a way that is a bit mad, a bit crazed, a bit afraid, but also a bit sympathetic. He sees something coming, but no one will take action before it’s too late.”

Before appearing in Rogue One, Saw Gerrera actually debuted during Star Wars: The Clone Wars where he was portrayed as a guerrilla fighter who had some Jedi training from Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano.
