After plenty of rumblings, it’s now official: a fifth Indiana Jones movie is on the way.

Disney has confirmed another Indy outing, set to star Harrison Ford and be directed by Steven Spielberg, for a 2019 release. In fact, July 19th, 2019 to be precise. The returning Ford and Spielberg will also be joined by franchise mainstays Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, who will be on board as producers.

On this news, Disney Chairman Alan Horn said, “Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Ford’s Dr. Henry Walton Indiana Jones debuted way back in 1981’s Raiders of the Last Ark, going on to become one of the most iconic characters in cinema history as further adventures followed in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Previously, speculation suggested that Indy could be set for a reboot, with somebody like Chris Pratt or Bradley Cooper taking over the legendary fedora and bullwhip. For now, at least, it looks as if there’s still plenty of life left in Harrison Ford, and so it’ll be more of the old Indy that we love for the foreseeable future.

As ever, expect more on Indiana Jones 5 as we get it.
