We reported a week or so ago that DREDD producer Adi Shankar was in the process of making a Dark Judges web series to partially fill the empty void left by the lack of further adventures starring Mega-City One’s finest.

Although it was originally assumed that the series would be live-action like the short films in Shankar’s BOOTLEG UNIVERSE, the cost of the effects work that would be required to properly realise the Dark Judges would likely be prohibitively expensive, and so the series will instead be animated.

It will be titled JUDGE DREDD: SUPERFIEND, a reference to the Boyhood of a Superfiend story arc that recounted Judge Death’s development from his childhood as the son a sadist to his ultimate ascension to an undead planet-annihilating omnicidal maniac, and going by the image featuring blood-drenched dentistry (not to mention the series poster mimicking the cover of the collected stories) this will likely be incorporated into the web series.

SUPERFIEND will splatter itself across the Internet on Monday 27th October, with a trailer due to appear at some point in the next few days.
