For those of you still struggling to erase the Vince Vaughn-starring PSYCHO remake from your minds, fear not, for a new Hitchcock remake is on the way. Given the positive response to GONE GIRL from fans and critics alike, we’re happy to hear that David Fincher, Ben Affleck and Gillian Flynn are reteaming for a redo of Hitchcock’s classic STRANGERS ON A TRAIN.

Deadline is reporting the news of the project, which will be a retelling of Hitchcock’s 1951 film, itself based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel. The original movie featured Farley Granger and Robert Walker as two men who enter a pact to exchange murders. Walker’s character, Bruno, kills Granger’s wife, but then Granger’s Guy has doubts over killing Bruno’s father. It’s believed that Affleck will be starring as Guy in the film, who will be an actor rather than a tennis pro as in the original. When Guy’s private plane breaks down, he gets given a lift by a wealthy stranger… which is where things take a turn for the sinister.

Expect more on this retelling, currently titled STRANGERS, as it develops.
